Since 2010, the Museum Kunst der Westküste has been actively inviting artists to Alkersum as artists in residence. For the first time, the show presents a selection of works in a group exhibition that were created during or in the process of preparing for or following up on such residencies and are being presented to the public for the first time. International artists whose previous work has a connection to the museum's profile are invited to spend an inspirational and productive stay on the island of Föhr. To date, 24 international artists in residence have been welcomed.

The exhibition, entitled ‘Made on Föhr’, marks the start of a new series and this year focuses on artistic positions that have been dealing with the medium of photography for decades and have concentrated on the theme of landscape on Föhr. In their approach, conceptual content and perception of the North Sea island, the three positions prove to be completely independent and at the same time consistent with their respective previous work.

Nicole Ahland, born in 1970, and Thomas Wrede, born in 1963, are two artists living in Germany, while Elina Brotherus, born in 1972, is Finnish and lives in Paris and Helsinki.
