Over 50 high-quality paintings and graphic works from the Jürgen and Maria Elisabeth Rasmus Foundation have been added to the collection of the Museum Kunst der Westküste (MKdW) on permanent loan. The works by Paul Baum, Tina Blau, Hans Peter Feddersen, Louis Gurlitt, Christian Morgenstern, Emil Nolde, Amelie Ruths and many more complement and enrich the MKdW's collection profile, which focuses on art created between 1830 and 1930 along the west coast of Norway, Denmark, Germany and the Netherlands on the theme of ‘Sea & Coast’.

How has the view of the west coast changed? Which themes became important?

In their paintings, the artists perceive geographical and climatic peculiarities and unfold a fascinating range of themes: from the storm-tossed rocky coasts of Norway to the high skies of the North Frisian marshes, from bitter cold and shimmering air, from distant and local regions. The exhibition catalogue presents all the artistic positions and relates them to one another.
