In the early 1930s, Fide Struck explored the themes of work and trade in Altona, Hamburg and on the west coast through his photography, empathetically focusing on shipyard and dock workers, fish and market vendors, and crab fishermen. Struck's photographs are testimonies to the multifaceted amateur and working-class photography of the late Weimar Republic. They oscillate between private experience, social reportage and political context. Inspired by the visual language of New Objectivity and New Vision, they captivate viewers with their unusual perspectives.
